CHEAP FLIGHTS TO Stornoway
Stornoway is the capital of the Isle of Lewis, and is the main town of the string of islands 40 miles west of mainland Scotland that form the Outer Hebrides. It is a busy harbour town, home to the Western Isles Council, and gateway to the northerly landmass of Lewis and Harris, an area containing a kaleidoscopic variety of scenery.
Whilst Lewis is mainly flat with hundreds of lochs, fertile croftland and many fine beaches, Harris has outstanding mountain scenery, with a rugged rocky landscape, and vast white sandy beaches.
Steeped in Celtic and Norse history, Lewis’s antiquities include the magnificent 4000 year old Callanish Standing Stones, the 2000 year old Carloway Broch, and the more modern LewsCastle built in the 1800s.
